TITLE: HOW THE WEST WAS WON
FORMAT: British Quad (30 x 40 inches)
STARS: James Stewart, John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Henry Fonda, Richard Widmark. DIRECTOR: John Ford.
NOTES: One of the last of the great westerns. Made when stars were stars and directors were . . well. . John Ford. How the West Was Won was one of the few movies to be made in full Cinerama, filmed with three parallel cameras and projected onto a huge curved screen with stereo sound. This family saga of the old west, spanning the Gold Rush, the Civil War, and the building of the railroads, really wowed audiences in 1962 and continues to stand up well. Winner of 3 Oscars and nominated for a further 5, including best picture. The poster art attempts to create the Cinerama effect of the wide screen with three distinct segments - something that lends itself well to the quad landscape format. The blank area at the head of the poster was intended for overprinting with the name of the cinema, show times, etc but this example is in unsullied form and as it originally came from the distributor.
CONDITION: Grade A. Slight edge creases and one or two very short edge tears. Folded, as issued.
