ORIGINAL PRESS BOOKS, CAMPAIGN BOOKS AND FILM SYNOPSES: These are an often overlooked and interesting category of movie collectable. Press Books and Campaign books are similar in format and purpose and were intended to assist cinema managers with advertising campaigns. They usually contain illustrations of available posters and promotional material, information on the film and its stars, suggestions for press and advertising campaigns, etc. Campaign books are typically A4 in size (). The film Synopsis, as its description suggests, is a promotional item that contains a summary of the film?s story and content. The Synopsis often includes a full list of the film?s cast and credits and illustrations with scenes from the movie. The synopsis is typically A4 in size () and 4 pages (although some contain more or less pages and sizes also vary). Occasionally they are issued in novelty shapes, with gatefolds, pop-ups and other variations. The Press and Campaign Book and the Synopsis usually have front cover artwork that is a smaller version of the poster for the film and are thus very suitable for framing for those with more limited display space. Finally in this category is the Film Programme or Brochure. These are glossy, often expensively produced items issued to audiences at premieres or special showings of the film. Unlike the press book, campaign book and synopsis, they were intended for public consumption and were not issued merely to cinema managers and distributors.
